Viva Las Vegas! Sin City's 5 Largest Hotels

C

onsidering that Las Vegas is often referred to as the ‘City that never sleeps’, it’s almost ironic that according to Wikipedia, 5 out of the top 10 largest hotels in the world are situated in amazing megapolis!

Vegas bills itself as the Entertainment Capital of the World and is famous for its luxurious and grand casino-hotels together with their associated activities.  Not only does it rank as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations, it also has more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world!

Here’s the rundown of Sin City’s largest properties:

The Venetian Resort: 7,092 Rooms (Rank 2 in the world behind First World Hotel, Malaysia)

“If you can bring the romantic atmosphere of Venice with all the luxuries that can only be found in Las Vegas, then it can be a winner” suggested Mr. Sheldon Adelson’s wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson…And so sparked the inspiration for this amazing property.

To capture the vision, the design project included 250 artists and sculptors, and 2 Venice historians. Today the property boasted replicas of numerous landmarks from the city on Venice, including a Grand canal with gondola rides and a 315-foot-high replica of St Mark's Campanile, topped by a statue depicting Angel Gabriel.

MGM Grand: 6,852 Rooms (Rank 3)

MGM Grand opened in December 1993 making it the 2nd oldest property out of the 5 here!  Last year, the property remodeled its Studio Tower (formerly known as West Wing) reflecting a retro desert feel with mid-century modern design and décor aesthetic. The inspiration was drawn from the mid-century design style of Palm Springs, incorporating a desert palette of fresh pinks and chartreuse greens with clean lines and soft shapes. Guests will find rounded window seats, enlarged headboards, globe sconces and carefully chosen artwork that accentuates the sculptural furnishings.

Wynn: 4,748 Rooms (Rank 7)

All propertiesdetails here are owned by Vici Properties with the exception to Wynn.  Unlike most Strip resorts, Wynn Las Vegasdoes not have a theme.  Wynn said:"Our resort will become famous and people will copy us. We're not tryingto copy Rome or Italy or New York. It's about the beauty of our desert. It'stime for Las Vegas to have its own hotel, its own architecture."

Mandalay Bay: 4,426 Rooms (Rank 9)

MandalayBay offer the largest gaming space on the Sunset Strip at an impressive 160,334square feet, and is packed with more than 1,700 slot machines, from high limitto progressive. Its video poker machines feature more than 200 variations ofvideo poker (starting at a nickel to play)

Luxor: 4,407 Rooms (Rank 10)

The property opened just 2 months before MGM Grand. When it opened, the pyramid, which cost $375 million to build, was thetallest building on the strip.

In a city known for its lights, the enormous powerful bright light atop the Luxor Hoteland Casino shines above, and more powerfully, than all others. The iconic light s perhaps even more noteworthy than the resort’s unique architecture.  The Luxor’s light, (called the “sky beam”) is the strongest beam of light in the world, using curved mirrors to collect thelight from 39 xenon lamps and focus them into one intense, narrow beam. On a clear night, it is visible up to 275 miles (443 km) away by aircraft at cruising altitude, such as over Los Angeles
