Sourcing Sustainability in Creating Luxury Uniforms
ith the United Nations coming together for COP26 this month, now is as good a time as any to look at what we at Studio 104 are doing to make a difference for the world in which we live in and future generations. Sustainability is at the forefront of our development process when working with all of our clients. From fabrics, trims and manufacture to shipping and packaging. We are constantly looking at ways to improve the cycle of sustainability inside our process, while continuing to deliver luxury uniforms without compromise.
So here’s a look at what we do to source sustainably:
PARTNERING WITH SUSTAINABLE MILLS
At the forefront of the design and development process comes fabrication. When sourcing fabrics we look for mills who hold the same core values and insight into sustainability as we do. We partner with fabric mills who offer collections with Oeko-tex certification. This allows us to offer our clients fabrics that have been manufactured in environmentally friendly facilities under safe and socially responsible working conditions. With this in mind we know we are offering our clients products that will not only stand the test of time but will help the environment.
SOURCING LOCALLY
Many of our fabric mills and manufacturers are small enterprises based right here in the UK and in our neighbouring Europe. Through sourcing within our local area we are able to ship to and from our European and UK manufacturers direct and with lower impact on our carbon footprint. In addition, by supporting smaller, local suppliers we also help support local communities and therefore help in building social change within those areas.
EXCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENTS
Many of our fabric mills have moved from holding large stocks to refining their collections and working closely with us to develop exclusive options for our bespoke clients. Being a custom uniform supplier, we work closely with our clients to deliver exactly the right garments for the right requirement. We address this throughout our sourcing process and in doing so we avoid unnecessary excess in fabrication, trimming and manufacture meeting our clients needs every time. We never over consume and never have unnecessary excess stocks meaning we can control and lower our environmental impact.
Through sustainable partnerships, local sourcing and exclusive developments - three key elements in 8-step ‘Future Friendly Uniform’ approach - our we at Studio 104work hard to ensure our clients are delivered a product that is ‘Sustainable’. We continue to strive and improve on developing ways that will bring us to the forefront of sustainable bespoke uniforms.
