In the heatwave that hit London last week I was on the hunt for the perfect toggle for a Doorman’s coat. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity to explore the trim shops of London, and it was. Weaving in and out of the shoppers and tourists on Oxford Street, I went in search of the perfect toggle.
A visit to Liberty London is always a treat for me and today was no exeption. A haven from the bustling crowds. I headed straight for the haberdashery floor, and the button wall was magnificent. All the colours and shapes you can imagine, but nothing that suits the vivid blue coat.
After scouring all the haberdashery shops in the area, and asking for all the help I could get I finally found a winner. It was down to two options and there was a clear winner to fit the brief. I also found some twisted navy cord to create the loop for the fastening.
Once I picked out the right toggles for the coat, I rushed over to our Tailors workshop to deliver the hand picked fastening in time to finish the first sample of the coat.
